Bella's Garden yardage and a magazine giveaway
Hi everyone,
I've had so many emails this weekend from people looking to find Bella fabric to make Bella's Garden. No, I don't have any kits unfortunately. There just aren't enough hours in every day for me to stock, inventory, and cut fabric in addition to designing so I leave that to the wonderful quilt shops. Unfortunately this was a few collections back so you might need to do some searching, but I have seen it in shops. I know that my local shop, Sew Much Fun, in Lowell, NC has some yardage, and I've seen it online too.
What is can do is provide you with SKU information. I went back through my design notes and this is what I found and I reconciled them with Fons and Porter's directions. If you want to see what the fabrics look like up close, visit my fabric page.
Gold print for the background - this is actually a creamy color (115.101.06.1): 1-½ yards
Turquoise print for the sashing, outer border, and binding (115.101.04.2): 2-¼ yards
Turquoise large scale strip for the sashing - this is actually the medallion print in the Bella collection, not a true stripe (115.101.03.2): 1-½ yards
Pink print for pieced rows and large yo-yos - I’d describe this as an orange and pink circle design (115_101_07_1): ⅝ yard
Dark pink print for inner border, petals, and small yo-yos (115.101.08.1): - 3/8 yard
Green print for pieced rows (115.101.02.2): ⅝ yard
Light green print for stems and leaves - (115_101_04_1): 1 fat quarter (or 1/2 yard if you prefer to make bias bars, as I did in the original, rather than curvy applique shapes)
Blue print for pieced rows (115_101_06_2): 3/8 yard
Orange print for petals and small yo-yos (115.101.05.1): 1 fat quarter
Bonjour, Mon Ami, one of my more current collections for Blend Fabrics, plays very nicely with Bella, so you may be able to draw from it to produce a lovely quilt as well. Hope this helps!
Also, Fons and Porter sent me a couple of extra issues that I thought I would pass on to you all, so if you would like to enter to win a copy leave a comment on this post telling me what color you think should be the "color of the year" for 2014. No research - just your personal opinion. Deadline is this Wednesday night, August 28th.
Happy sewing!
Amanda

What about a vibrant purple? Thanks for sharing.
I'm totally for purple as well!! I LOVE purple...any purple lol. I'm not sure which tone of purple but I like the idea of the vibrant purple or the purple-grey like tone :-). Thanks for the chance!
Honest, I'm not a copycat, hehe. My vote is purple as well, a rich tone would be gorgeous.
Thank you and Fons & Porter for a super giveaway and a chance to win.

How about Mustard! I love that color!
I think blue should be the color of the year for 2014.
I have to go with purple, not because it seems to be a popular answer to your question but because I love, love, love it! :)
How about a green that is halfway between lime and green apple--like your Village Green pattern border?
Any tropical color would be great. I would prefer any tropical shade of blue or turquoise. -- soparkaveataoldotcom
Pumpkin orange for 2014. I just love anything orange.
Definitely green - moss green??
Mustard or something along that shade; like a deep yellow or gold.
The clean, clear shade of turquoise blue should be the color of the year for 2014, love it!
I would llove to see a rich pthalo blue that leans toward green as the color of the year. I am sure they would call it something else, but that it the Golden Paints color name.
Hmmmm that's a hard one! Emerald was 2013 color....I think orange was 2012 I don't have a clue! I'm gonna say..... Canary red????? Lol I dunno!!! That's be crazy if I was right! Lol.
Thanks for a chance to win!
As beautiful as Aqua is, I think it's been in the press long enough. LOL! Let's go with a rich royal purple!
The colour of the year should be a deep, rich purple!!
I think turquoise would be a nice color
I saw a beautiful, rich, coral color the other day. That would be my choice!
With Autumn fast approaching I'm thinking 'pumpkin orange'. Thanks for a chance - love Fons & Porter.
Some type fo yellow. Maybe a golden yellow. :)
It looks like I am in the majority in saying Amethyst should be the 2014 color of the year. It will play well with the emerald, tangerine and fuchsia colors of the last few years. Congrats on the pattern in the magazine. It is beautiful and I would love to make it. Take care and God bless, Cory
I have a couple bolts with a bit of Bella on them as well as all of Bonjour Mon Ami. You can find it here:

I think a lovely, rich blue....kinda like a cobalt or pthalo blue. Love it! Thanks for the chance to win a magazine!
I am going to say brown just because I love the color.
If I was going to pick a color of the year, it would have to be purple. A nice clear purple that would play nicely with the last few colors of emerald and turquoise.
Aqua blue! Who doesn't love it?
I would go with aqua blue - loving it in my projects lately!

I would love to see more Periwinkle. Such a soothing shade!
I think green is always the color to go to, especially citrus green. Such a delightful color and it makes my mouth water. And I love your beautiful quilt, Bella's Garden. Wish I were as talented as you are.
For some reason a deep rosy purple was the first thing to pop into my head, and I don't particularly care for purple. Go figure.
I would have to say a coral color, I have always loved it, thank you.

My pick would be aqua.
I'm going with grey
My choice would be a rusty orange. It's always been my favorite.
I would love to see fuchsia be the next color of the year!

Is grey a color? I think it makes every other color 'pop'. That would be my choice for color of the year.
Tangerine! Love it with gray, purple, green...
how about a sea foam blue....
there are sew many great colors out there it is really hard to pick just one.
sure would love to win a copy of the magazine.
in stitches
I have a lot of people asking for Citron and Gray this year, or really anything and gray! I was so excited when I saw this pattern in my magazine, congrats!
I have to agree with everyone who mentioned PURPLE!. My favorite color.
coral pink!
I think the color of the year should be a very deep Amethyst color. The quilt is lovely! Congratulations - I knew you were a star as soon as I saw Veranda when I first found quilting blogs.
I'm a lover of turquoise and red! These never seem to be "out of date."
Okay, not for me anyways. My next quilt I hope is as beautiful as your's in the colors I like.
Quilt til you drop.
Debbie
I would love Tangarine to be the color of the year. I love your designs! thank you!
