Well, here is a hint. I've had a thing for aqua and blue Christmas designs lately. Yes, mine is the white-on-aqua snowflake in the second row. It is on page 42 and is called "Winter's Jewel."
I enjoyed making this. The applique and piecing are really simple but, because of the color choices, they look bold. I used some fabrics from Laurie Wisbrun's Brrr collection and also some neutrals by Patrick Lose, both of which are manufactured by Robert Kaufman.
Winter's Jewel can be arranged in many ways.

Quilt 2 - on point with white border |

ReplyDeleteGorgeous block! I bet you are not a gardener because all your time is spent creating beauty with your designs instead of with plants! Total guess...and thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteHmmm...I totally believe #2, because that's the kind of thing I would do. Since your patterns often have a garden element, I'm going to guess #3 is true. So, fingers crossed, I'll say #1 is the lie.

ReplyDeleteAmanda, you block is simply beautiful, as always. I'm a fan of all your work. I'm guessing #3 is the lie. I don't have time to garden, so maybe you don't have it either! I'm just stopping by to say "hello". Don't pick me, I'm on the tour, too.
ReplyDelete#3 is my guess for the lie. Love your block - thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteOK, I'm thinking #1 is it, but I could also think it would be #2--#3 appears to be something you would do (got this from your website).

I really don't know, but I will guess that #3 is the lie since I can't imagine that you would have time to garden.
ReplyDeleteI think #2 is a lie.
ReplyDeleteJust from personal experience, there's not much time to garden if you want to quilt, so my guess would be #3.
ReplyDeleteI am going to guess #2 - I sure hope I have better luck with this one. THanks for the opportunity. Judy C
ReplyDeleteI guess #3. I so love blocks set on point, beautiful!

ReplyDeleteGuessing #1. Now I will try to prove that I'm not a robot.
ReplyDeleteLove you block. Congratulations for having your block published in Quiltmakers 100 Blocks #6 and for getting on the cover! I'm guessing that number 2 is the lie, at least I would hope you hadn't done that.
ReplyDeleteI guess #2. Great block.
ReplyDeleteI like what you design so I will assume we have some similarities. #3 is a lie because I don't enjoy garden work. Hope I am right! By the way, I have never had stitches from a plastic bagel knife but I HAVE sewn over my finger.

ReplyDelete#3 Congrats on getting your block in the magazine! Love your block!
ReplyDeleteI love your block and the different settings you have provided. I am guessing that #2 statement is a lie.
ReplyDeleteI cannot find the answer to which statement is a lie. I would guess #3 because it is so normal. Maybe I should leave 2 more comments with guesses #1 & #2!! lol I just scrolled down at your previous posts & I love, love, love your fizz pattern!
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing 3 because it isn't listed in your profile. Hope I'm right. Love your block.

Yeah, I think number three is the lie, but it's iffy! Very cute block -- you did a great job with it! :)
ReplyDeletei say that #3 is a lie. you don't have the time! lol
ReplyDeleteMy guess is that you are NOT an avid gardener because you couldn't possibly have the time!! You are just too busy creating these beautiful quilts! I really think this block is your prettiest design yet! It is just beautiful and I LOVE those colors!! Can't wait to get my hands on a copy of Volume 6!!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, LOVE your block! It is going to be sew much fun to play with! Okay, this is a total guess....#1 is the lie?!!! Thanks sew much for this chance to win :-)
ReplyDeletewell, avid gardening would be out as it would take away too much time from quilting/designing!
ReplyDeleteI looked through a few old blogs, but found no clues. So, I'm going to say they're all true!
ReplyDeleteI am guessing #3.
ReplyDeleteI think number one is a lie. Most quilters have something to do with a garden because of the beautiful color combinations that it presents
ReplyDeleteI am choosing #1. I love your design.
ReplyDelete#3 love your block..
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking that you are NOT an avid gardener - You're too busy making gorgeous quilts for us to drool over!

ReplyDeleteLove the Winter Jewel block! It looks like winter. I think number 3 is the lie. Wish I know for sure. Thank you for this great giveaway.
ReplyDeleteHave a super great sewing and stitching day!
This is a little like shooting a fish in a barrel. They all sound like they could be lies or the truth. I'm going to guess that you did NOT work in a woodshop.
ReplyDeletequiltschon@att.net
I am going to see that #3, an avid gardener. is the lie. Your interest listed on your blog does not list that. I did enjoy seeing your block. It is indeed a jewel.
ReplyDeleteI pick #2. I can't see you doing something like that. I enjoy your blog and your interviews with Madame Samm. Love all the blocks that you have shared with all of us. I, too, also like the colors red and aqua and again you have inspired us again with another block, this time for Quiltmaker's 100 Blocks, Volume 5. Thank you for all that you do for inspiration and giving all of your followers a chance to win this Collctor's Edition.
ReplyDeleteSandi T.

ReplyDelete#1 is a lie. Love this block-so versatile! Tamsyn
ReplyDeleteI am guessing #2 is the lie. Love your block. vivian
ReplyDeleteThis is a great color combo for your block, Amanda. I don't believe you're a gardener.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been following long enough to have read prior posts, so I will guess that number 1 is false. Love this block and the idea of making a christmas quilt with it.
ReplyDeleteDebbie
I guess I will say you worked ina wood shop for a couple years . But gardening would be a second choice because of colors. I love the designs.
ReplyDeleteI'm betting the lie is the avid gardner. You obviously love flowers and nature, but somehow it seems that gardening takes too much time. You are too prolific in designing to spend lots of time gardening.
ReplyDeleteLynn B.
I think #3 is false. I haven't seen many gardening photos on your blog so I think your beautiful flowers are in your patterns.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to go with #3. Don't see how you would have time to garden. Love your block and I'm thinking it is great in a table runner. Thats the size of items I like to make and quilt. Congrats.
ReplyDeleteI want to say the 3rd is a a lie, re 'avid gardener', because I love the idea that you worked in a wood shop. And I like the Snowflake Runner -- very nice!

ReplyDeletemy guess is 1 is the lie. Congrats and thanks for the chance to win.
mhinders@myclearwave.net
Love the block, can see using many different color combos. I bet all three are true.
ReplyDeleteCould they all be lies? Your beautiful designs are the flowers you cultivate, you work with fabric instead of wood and hopefully a plastic knife would be safe in your hands!
ReplyDeleteI don't really know which is a lie so I'll go with #3.
ReplyDeleteI do know that I love, love your block! I love snow flakes and winter scenes and this is beautiful!
hulseybg@gmail.com
I'm going to say #3
ReplyDeleteClueless says #1 is a lie
ReplyDeleteNifty block! Hmm. I think maybe the third one is a lie...
ReplyDeleteMargaretQuilts mlwright29(at)hotmail(dot)com
ReplyDeletebig guess is #2 is a lie
I'll guess......2 (even though it sounds believeable and could totally see myself doing that)... I think creative people like to create, whether it's wood, flowers, food or cloth....fingers crossed. Love your snowflake!
ReplyDeleteBeing a creative person..I could see you working in a wood shop. Gardening takes up way too much time so I have to go with #3.

#3 is the lie. Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI will guess that #3 is the lie.
ReplyDeletei have to guess #3. love the block with its applique!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful block! I am going to guess that you are not an avid gardener. Even thought you use flowers in your designs I think that you are too busy to have the time it would take to be an avid gardener. Unless of course you don't ever sleep.
ReplyDelete#1 is the lie!
ReplyDeletelisamcgriff(at)hotmail(dot)com
I am going to guess #3 is the lie. You ARE NOT an avid gardener (takes too much time away from quilting).
ReplyDeleteI am betting putting together wood pieces to make stuff is just like piecing fabric at least in a graphic sort of talent way.
The stitches is something I would do too ;-)
Love your block - table runner!
I like the preview pattern Palace Doors too!
I think 3 is a lie. Love your block!!!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty block! Who has time to garden when you quilt so much? So I think 3 is a fib. Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous! I adore snowflakes and stars. The colors are amazing!
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing #1 is the lie.
Sunflower Row is the pattern I would choose if I could.
Thanks!

I think number 3 is the lie.
ReplyDeleteI adore your block! I will have to purchase the magazine just for your pattern if I don't win.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing #1 is wrong.
My guess is #1
ReplyDeleteI really like our block.
As someone who is creative all three could be true...sorry I haven't found your blog before now, so I would know the true statements...but I love your block, especially as the table runner!
ReplyDeleteI think #1 is wrong! thank you!
ReplyDeleteI don't think you have time to garden. Your beautiful quilts and designs are so fun to see. I enjoyed reading thru your blog.
ReplyDeleteHmm, first, LOVE your block. Now I know many quilters are also gardeners but I think you are not. No idea why but that is my guess! Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing that you are not an avid gardener. Mainly because the other two are just more interesting ;-)

ReplyDeletesamtaylorcjsmimi(at)yahoo(dot)com
Very nice block....ok I am going for #2 as the lie!
ReplyDeleteBoy, I don't really know for sure. I read some of your blogs and couldn't decide. I think you like flowers so I am going to guess # 3 because I like flowers too, but am not an avid gardener and I think woodworking and quilting have a lot in common and I can understand needing stitches from a plastic knife. (fingers crossed here)
ReplyDeleteHaving no clue, I'll guess that you are not an avid gardener.
ReplyDeleteNumber 3 is a lie. I think you are too busy with your family and quilting to be in the garden much.
ReplyDeleteI'll guess that #1 is the lie. Your block is very nice. I like the colour combination but I don't use it for Christmas usually.
ReplyDeleteI'm not really sure. Maybe number 2?
ReplyDeleteI tried to read your profile and "about me" section, but my computer wouldnt let me. dont understand these things. So I just have to guess #2 is the lie. I have worked in a woodshop and I love to garden myself...would love to win one of your patterns!
ReplyDeleteHmm... #1 I think
ReplyDeleteI'm going to guess that it is #3, just because 1&2 sound unusual and I love gardening. How can you not like it? lol
ReplyDeleteguessing but will say #1 :)
ReplyDelete#3 is a lie.
ReplyDeleteIt's that you are not an avid gardener. (I'm not really going to admit how much time I spent searching online to make sure my hunch was right! lol) pbstrand@msn.com
ReplyDeleteI am going to guess that number 3 is the lie!
ReplyDeleteI am going to guess number 1. I can see a lot of garden nfluence in your quilts iand those plastic knives can be very dangerous! :)
ReplyDeleteSandy A
PS...love the block!
i will guess no 1 thanks
ReplyDeleteNot sure so will guess you did not work in a wood shop. Thanks for the chance to win!
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna say #3...just because the third time is a charm...maybe
ReplyDeletejaalex@charter.net
I think #3 is a lie. Winter's Jewel is lovely!
ReplyDeletewlinda_ca(at)yahoo.com
I am guessing #1 is not true. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI think #1. You like flowers in your header and background so I think you garden, lol. And the middle one is crazy enough to be true. :)
ReplyDeleteWow. LOVE your block Amanda. You always seem to create new blocks that I just love. Beautiful work as always.
ReplyDeleteI am going to guess that "I am an avid gardener" is the lie.
Wonderful block! Is there a trick to the quiz?
ReplyDeleteI think #2 is the lie...I love your block...can't wait to try it out...:)
ReplyDeleteKaren in Maine
I'm guessing #3 is the lie. Love your block.
ReplyDeleteI believe that #3 is the lie. I remember reading somewhere that you gather inspiration from the garden ...
ReplyDeleteWhat a clever way to pick a winner! I will guess......you did not work in a wood shop.
ReplyDeleteI haven't a clue! So I'll take a wild guess that #1 is the lie.
ReplyDeleteI will guess #1 is a lie. Love your block!
ReplyDeleteI think I'm going to say that they are all true. Really like your block.
ReplyDeleteNancy Smith
I'm thinking that #3 is the lie. I became a much less avid gardener when I took up quilting so it seems logical to me.
ReplyDeleteFirst visit to your site; love your patterns. Glad to have found you.
swalker287 (at) gmail (dot) com.
I think # 2 is a lie.
ReplyDeleteI love your block. I'm guessing number one is the lie.

ReplyDeleteFantastic block! I think #3 is a lie. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the snowflake block! I'll say that #1 is the lie. :)
ReplyDeleteI love your block. It's beautiful! I'm going to guess #3 is a lie. Maybe you spend too much time quilting to spend any time gardening??? :)
ReplyDeleteI would guess you could not be an avid gardener and still have time to do your quilting-both are so time consuming I have had to let the gardening go and just play with my fabrics!
ReplyDeleteMy guess is #3 I am an avid gardener.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry, i have no idea which is the lie but I love to garden and i have impailed myself with an oyster knife but i never worked in wood shop, however this snowflake looks like woodwork to me sooooo ... i would still like to enter a comment Scarlette shobbs@scarlette.com
ReplyDeleteLove your Winters Jewel block! I am guessing #2 is the lie.
ReplyDeleteI think #3 is a lie because you probably don't have time to garden since you are creating such beautiful designs.
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing # 3 is the fib.
ReplyDeleteI am guessing the third one as well. The other 2 sound so far fetched that they are probably true!
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteIt is really a hard guess. I would not say that 3 is the lie because you have so much gardening in your materials. But then, maybe that is why #3 is the lie. Oh well, love the versatility of your block.
ReplyDeleteI'd say #3 is the lie. Love the block...I miss snow here in South Texas, so tend to get it by stitching it!
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing that Number One is the lie! I think that you really are a gardener and the other one is so crazy that it must be true!
ReplyDeleteAmanda, as much as your gorgeous designs are based on a floral theme I don't think you are an avid gardener. Am I right?
ReplyDeleteI guess that #3 is a lie, because "avid gardener" is such a common expression, but the other two are much more specific.
ReplyDeleteI love your new block! How on earth is it EASY to do that intricate snowflake applique, though? You mean, easy for quilty goddesses like you, or is there some trick that makes it easy for us mortals as well? ;-)
Three.
ReplyDelete
