The state of things...
Have you ever picked up a quilt from a quilter and been so excited because they brought your work to an entirely new level? That is how I felt this morning when I picked up this....
I love Deborah Norris' little leaves and rose swirls. I can't show more yet (soon, soon...) but had to share.
I dropped off quilts #6 and #7 this morning, which means I have need of lots of binding...
It was so nice to see Deborah's quilting because I'm feeling at sixes and sevens because we are living in complete chaos. Those of you who read this blog regularly know that I don't have a studio all to myself and that we homeschool our children. That means a lot of activities take place in just a couple of rooms and, right now, I'm taking more than my fair share of space. You can't go more than a few feet without stepping on a project. These are various snapshots from our dining room, which is being used for pretty much everything but eating. (And we don't have an eat-in kitchen, so right now we are sometimes eating standing at the counter, or on towel in the family room.) Such is life. For those of you who might be feeling behind with housekeeping, take a look...

Haven't been reading long enough to know you are HOMESCHOOLing in the same space you SEW! Talk about two storage hogging activities and you are doing them both in the same room you are suppose to eat in. I'm impressed at how prolific you are in your quilt making with such chaos!
I'm just getting out from under my chaos after buying a kitchen's work of IKEA cabinets. And now I realize, I have very little to complain about now! Best wishes on your chaos containment.
Wow...you are busy...have you made 7 quilts along with home schooling just since you got your new fabric? Amazing!
The schoolwork room trumped the dining room, which is why it is such a crazy mess. (We can go without fancy meals, but not without an education, after all.) It is crazy, but we all have to be near each other to get everything done. I just make sure that I am doing really basic things that only require me to be on auto pilot during school time - which is why I always end up working alone at night! I'm lucky to be home with my kids, despite the mess.
I love your honesty and willingness to share yourself with us. Your children are blessed and so are we to share your life. My home gets messy when creativity is happening too... I jumped on the computer to escape it for a while. Your spring quilt is looking beautiful, its encouraging to see it blossom. Oh yes, it's much nicer to iron fabric for quilts!
thanks for keeping it real! the piles look familiar, as do the threads. and i'm not even getting ready for quilt market OR homeschooling. kudos to you!
